Super Bowl Fallout and Twitter Spaces

THE OPENER
Discords and Spaces

I’ll be honest…I don’t even know how to explain this opening topic here. I’ve only recently discovered this so bear with me. This sports bettor named “Elf” calls himself a sports bettor, a mathematician and Head Elf at Prophet X…well he hosts a spaces on X/Twitter. On these Twitter spaces, he invites a whole variety of colorful characters on including Jeff Nadu, Rob Pizzola as well as other sports bettors, scammers, touts and just random folks who want to call others out, tell stories and try to solve some Twitter beefs.

I’m warning you now if you decide to dive in on the next one, these spaces get wild and they are long. We are talking 3-4 hours. The one on February 2 went 4 hours and 23 minutes! These are not for your average sports bettor…these are not for the faint of heart. Put the kids to the bed before you tune into these shows. I made it about an hour on a couple before I came to and wondered what the hell am I doing with my life listening to these. But they’re entertaining and Elf does a good job hosting it and keeping order.

To better explain this spectacle that’s sweeping across Twitter, I asked Elf himself to articulate to the people how he would describe his Twitter spaces show:

“It’s like Jerry Springer but for gambling Twitter.
A place where all the gamblers come together and shit talk each other and share stories. People love it for its unfiltered nature.”

-Elf

Jerry Springer but for gambling Twitter is a great way to put it. If you remember ol’ cblez from a couple issues ago, he was on one of Elf’s spaces one night and tried explaining what he does as everyone called him out for not being a winning bettor. Anything and everything related to sports betting will be discussed. It’s unhinged, it’s borderline insane and you’ll hate yourself for listening to it after. That said, I can’t wait for the next one LOL.

Last night, here are just some of the topics that came up on the show:

  • GRP’s tracking bets of Adam Chernoff which George responded to as well as Chernoff’s accusatory tweet:

It’s a bad look for Chernoff to not respond to his documented poor record that George has been tracking, but then to respond in a way like this. Elf invited both GRP and Chernoff on the spaces Monday night to hash it out, but Chernoff was a no show.

  • Steve Fezzik showed up and in probably one of the more bizarre spots of the night, began talking about being attracted to underage girls and just wouldn’t…stop…talking…about…it 🤦‍♂️. Yes, you never know when pedophilia will come up on this show. Very odd behavior.

  • Bet Bash and the Sports Gambling Hall of Fame talk with Spanky and how to draw more women to events like Bet Bash and if people like Taylor Mathis are doing good for women in this industry.

And then of course a bunch of random touts (Professional? Amateur? Hard to tell on Twitter) came on and off throughout the show to call others out, talk about their Discords and other picks. Speaking of which…Discords! Apparently every tout has a Discord out there that they charge for, give out picks and what not. According to these touts’ profiles, they’re all up a ton of money supposedly. Must be an easy game to beat these days. It’s up to you whether you want to buy picks or not, but holy shit be careful folks…that’s all I ask. There’s very few people that win out there and there’s a LOT of garbage and scammers in this industry and floating around Twitter so just be careful if you’re looking to join someone’s Discord.

BET ODDS
Super Bowl Bets Recap

Super Bowl LIX is in the books and the game definitely took a detour from the game everyone thought they were getting. The Eagles absolutely blew the Chiefs out of the Superdome Sunday night. I didn’t like either side so I went with under 48.5 as my main bet and it was looking great until the Eagles D took the 4th quarter off and the Chiefs scored a bunch in garbage time to kill that. The game was fairly boring unless you’re from Philly, had money on the Eagles or just had Chiefs fatigue in general. But enough about the game and my bet, there was a lot of big bets and money flying around as always in this game. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the action from this past weekend…

Tails was a winner! Imagine betting nearly $21K on a flip of the coin.

OK, tough loss? Sure. But insane bad beat? Absolutely not. The game script did this bet in as the Chiefs literally didn’t score for nearly 3 quarters and then they were so far behind when they scored in garbage time, they were just in going for 2 mode at that point. I know someone will scream about this being a value bet or something, but sorry I’m just never putting up 2,200 bucks to win one hundred. There’s too much shit that can go wrong. Team gets shut out, they go for 2 which teams love to do these days, Butker could pull his hamstring on the opening kickoff or team gets blown out and is so far behind that they say screw it let’s go for 2! F that. People try to outsmart the books or something with these types of bets…just bet a team straight to cover at normal odds like a real gambler!

From early reports it appears the books didn’t very well on the Super Bowl and that’s despite the majority of the money being on the Eagles and the over. All the prop action, however, saved the books IMO. I was on Goedert’s yardage under and hit that. I would just love to see how much money the books won on Barkley’s rushing prop and Mahomes rushing attempt prop. Plus the lack of a Barkley TD had to be great news for the books as well. Everyone thought those were free money. It’s why I always lean unders on props in big games like this.

What about our boy Cblez? How did he do in the big game?

Cblez went “small” on the Chiefs and lost. He did admit to being wrong on the game though instead of saying the wrong team covered. A small sign of maturity from Cblez? Maybe…

What about GRP? George was trying to retire himself with some of the bets he made in this Super Bowl. How did he fare with all his wild exacta’s, squares and random MVP bets for defensive players and offensive linemen?

Kenny Pickett and the Eagles bailed George out at the end by getting a snap late in the game helping him get to a $500 profit. George nearly had Carson Wentz get into the game as well at the end which would have made him a big winner here, but the Chiefs decided to stick with Mahomes in the blowout. I made fun of GRP’s Penei Sewell MVP bet from earlier this postseason, but all these wild bets were fun to track and watch to see how George did. GRP says he’s taking a vacation and will be back in a couple weeks with promises of a new notebook!

And then there’s Sammy P’s bit—The Bartender, who actually had himself a solid season (34-26) but how did he finish up?

Dude crashed hard in the playoffs. He had a great run in the season that was defying his own odds and what goes up must come down and the bartender sure came down to Earth this postseason including an 0-3 trifecta in the big game. The bartender is what I call a mooch. He fits the description of a mooch perfectly. Always betting a favorite, or the brand team and name or the trendy pick, etc. What’s also funny is that he takes Hurts no TD for the game and Hurts is literally the first score of the evening, haha. Purple Gatorade too! Love the bartender getting wild for the Super Bowl.

COMINGS AND GOINGS
New Show and Vito Returns!

Just a couple comings and goings around the industry. First, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Big news recently in the podcasting/gambling world as it’s the return of Cousin Vito’s Casino Podcast!

I was one of the early listeners to Vito’s podcast (and guest) and was disappointed to see him take a hiatus, but it’s super exciting to hear him back behind the mic. So welcome back, Vito. Looking forward to listening to plenty of new shows this year!

Second, the Prop Queen Ariel Epstein has launched Prop Queen Sports…

She decided to stop hopping from job to job and created her own platform which will be a website just for prop betting insights and analysis which is a huge part of sports betting today. Kudos to Ariel for, as she said, betting on herself and creating this platform. I mean when you have more than 81,000 followers on Twitter, why not go out and start your own thing? Prop bets aren’t really my thing and I can’t speak for the validity of her picks, but if you’re a props bettor, I’d imagine you can’t find a better place for info on them.

And last but not least, Timothy Lawson (already of the enjoyable The Bettor Life podcast), is launching a new podcast this month along with Natrone Bets on betting Soccer. It’s called Double Chance.

A good soccer podcast especially in America seems to be hard to find. I bet soccer throughout most of the year after getting into it more over the past 10-15 years. Hey, early Saturday mornings in a slow high limit room with nothing else on TV but EPL soccer will do this to you too. Tim knows his soccer so I’m looking forward to this pod.

CLOSING
MLB Hall of Fame

Let’s close this newsletter down with some baseball news. With the Super Bowl over and football season coming to a close, baseball season is quickly approaching as teams will start reporting to Florida and Arizona this week for spring training. I wanted to give a shoutout the 2025 class of the MLB Hall of Fame.

Dick Allen is from a town right down the road from me and Dave Parker was a fan favorite in the 70’s and 80’s for my favorite team, the Pirates. It’s well deserved and pretty cool to see both of them make it along with Sabathia, Ichiro and Wagner. I hope to make it up to Cooperstown this summer for the induction ceremonies. Anyone else going?
